Discounts From A Local Business

Back a few weeks ago, there was a craft fair that I talked about here. That night, they had a fun event where your could go downtown and go in and out all of the shops. It was a chance to just look and see what downtown offers, get free food samples, and shop. While we were there went through Studio Creations that you see pictured above. We met Karen Hockensmith one of the hair dressers there, and she asked if we wanted to fill out our name to be entered in a chance to win a free haircut.

And....I WON!!

So I went down there today and had a very positive experience. It has a very homey feel and Karen was so sweet and really listened to what I was wanting with my hair. You can see photos posted below but they don't do it justice (I'm just not that good with photography)! She styled it and cut it just the way I wanted it!

But, my story doesn't end here... Karen also told me that seminary students and their whole family can get a 10% discount! And ... my husband can go to Studio Creations and get a haircut for only $10!

Wait! There's more. Karen makes Pure Skin Essentials. These are natural cosmetics that she mixes herself! She welcomes you to contact her to find out more information on this mineral cosmetic line at pureskinessentials@hotmail.com.

I hope I have swayed you to visit Karen or anyone at Studio Creations. It's worth checking out!

A Frugal Drink

This can be a simple, inexpensive recipe for an Orange Julius. More than likely, you have most, if not all of these ingredients in your kitchen already. My husband really likes ordering these from Dairy Queen, but you can make these right in your own home for a fraction of the price.

First, check out these dirt cheap ingredients (Rice Cooker not needed).

1 Cup of Milk
1 Cup of Water
1/4 cup of sugar
1 Tsp of Vanilla
6 oz. Frozen Juice Concentrate
12 ice cubes

I actually doubled this recipe so we could have more for later.

Then blend it all up.

And presto a tasty and unique drink!

I'm Back!

Well, I have been with out a computer for a few days...so no deal posting. That's ok though, my husband and I had a very nice time visiting family and just having an overall relaxing Christmas. But now, this week is crazy busy! I still have packages to mail, luggage and gifts to unpack, job transitioning, paperwork to sift through, and I should probably sleep sometime too. I will be posting this week, but I can't say how often. But by this weekend I should be back on my schedule and be able share exciting deals with you on a regular basis.

Also, stay tuned, as I launch our plan to include new frugal experiments to the blog. These will include anything from being frugal with your time to reusing household items to alternate shopping ideas. And don't worry, I will continue to post regular deals that include coupons, rebates, drugstores, etc, etc. For my original post on this idea click here.

Thank you to all my readers and those that leave comments. It means a lot and I look forward to receiving your feedback as my husband and I continue to tackle all sorts of frugal ideas!

Coupon Friends

While I was at CVS this past Sunday I met a fellow couponer. She had her own coupon book and even shared a coupon with me. We exchanged business cards as well. It was great to meet someone in town who was also blogging on the same subject!

I want to share her blog and also she has a website. The website is great, it has a lot of info for those who are both new to the coupon game and those who have been at it for awhile. She also has a great deal where you can pay only $5 a month and get up to 80 coupons sent to you of your choosing! Here are the links, I encourage you to go check them out!

Load Up Your Kroger Card...

If you haven't taken advantage of virtual coupons, you should! Go to the links below and register to get coupons attached to your Kroger card. They don't double like manufacture coupons, but they can be used with a manufacture coupon.

So, for example, on www.shortcuts.com, they have a $0.50 off any Cottonelle toilet paper. Load this on to your card, and then use a $0.50 manufacture coupon off any Cottonelle toilet paper (which will double at the register). Now...go get the $0.99 4 pk. of Cottonelle...and guess what? You just made $0.50!

Also, my friends and I were talking about how we get tons of Pillsbury coupons, but yet they rarely seem to go on a good sale. Check out these sites and you will usually see some Pillsbury coupons to load. Stack them with manufacture coupons, and PRESTO, you have a better savings.

These are just a couple of strategies, but you get the idea. Go register for these sites, and keep a list with you to match up with coupons/sales.

Coupon Club, Part 3

Thanks to Charley, Kelly, Jenny, and Brittany for coming out to the coupon club this afternoon. Lots of coupons and ideas were traded. Thanks Brittany for joining us for the first time, we hope you weren't too overwhelmed (don't worry you will get the hang of it)!

This month the club highlighted The Lighthouse Ministries. Here is their mission statement:

The Lighthouse Ministries, Inc.
is a non-profit corporation serving men, women, and children of Kentucky with a three-fold ministry designed to meet the practical and spiritual needs of those in crisis situations, resulting in “changed lives for a lifetime”.

Above you see a picture of some of the items (thanks Kelly G.!) we will be able to donate to this life changing organization. Click on the link to find to find out how you can help with The Lighthouse House Ministries.

Keep This In Mind...

Don't forget that the next two Sunday's are right before a holiday which means NO COUPONS in the paper. But hey, take a break from all the clipping and enjoy the holidays!

The Experiment Continues...

I am a little bit behind in my blogging , but I will continue to try to post at least one thing per day.

I wanted to share with you what there is to come with this blog. If you have read my first post or even the short description under my 'about me' page, you will see that there is more to this experiment than just shopping at drugstores. Not to worry though, I will continue to post all these great deals that I find, because I know they are helpful and fun!

I have quite a compilation of frugal, giving, green, and other projects in process at the moment. I have chosen to take this month to get that organized so that I can share some of those things with you starting in January.

These things will include giving resources, recycling, sewing projects, composting, gardening, making your own cleaners, getting stains out of clothing with things around your home, kitchen tricks, and much more.

As my title suggests, I will be experimenting with many of these things for the first time, so it should be quite interesting. I will also be searching out for guest and interview posts, blog resources, local participation, and advice!

Stay tuned for a schedule of items to come. If you are interested in being apart of this project, contact me at: rmbronson@gmail.com

Great Online CVS Deal!

This is a cool deal from Common Sense With Money. You can get $50.00 of Oil of Olay products for about $10.00 (including tax and shipping!) from www.cvs.com!!

This is how you do it:

  • You automatically save $10 when you buy $50 of of non-prescription items
  • Save $10 when you use a mastercard to pay AND use the code MASTERCARD
  • Save $5 when you also use the code MEDICARE
  • Save $20 after submitting your receipt for this rebate

On the same page that you put the codes in, there is a place where you can put in ECB's, however, I didn't have any luck with this...

A great gift or a resale!
